Centrally located in the Western Sichuan Plain, Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is renowned for its fertile land and agricultural wealth which have earned the city the nickname "Storehouse of Heaven". Upon Arrival in Chengdu, we shall visit Ancestral Temple of Wuhou, the temple for Zhuge Liang, a military genius, in Three Kingdoms.

Fly to the 3rd highest altitude airport in the world - Jiuhuang Airport in Jiuzhaigou from Chengdu. You will be transferred to the hotel, have a rest and adjust yourself to the higher altitude, which is about 3,000 meters above sea-level.

Jiuzhaigou, located in Sichuan Province, is an integration of multi-layer waterfalls, green lakes, snow mountains and forests with Tibetan culture and customs. It was listed in the World Natural Heritage in 1992. The clear and colorful water, multi-shaped mountains, the green and golden trees and the loft constitute the unique beauty of Jiuzhaigou.

JIUZHAIGOU - DUJIANG YAN DAM (B/L/D)

Leaving the marvelous Jiuzhaigou in the morning, and proceed to Dujiang Yan Dam - during the Warring States Period in 256 BC, the governor of the Shu Prefecture Li Bing led the people to build the large water conservancy works to control flooding on the Chengdu plains. Today, 2,250 years later, the work still plays a significant role in agriculture on the Chengdu plains.

DUJIANGYAN DAM - MT.LESHAN - MT.E'MEI (B/L/D)

In the morning we proceed to Leshan, where the Leshan giant Buddha is located. It is carved out of a solid rock on the cliff of Qixia Peak of Mt. Linyuan, looking down on the junction of three rivers. Continue your journey to Mt. E'mei by bus, in ancient times Mt. E'mei has been described as "Beauty Under Heaven". Temples were built as early as the Eastern Han Dynasty and Buddhism was introduced to the mountain during the Jin Dynasty. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties there were more than 150 temples.

Whole day excursion in E'mei Shan scenic area. There are 2300 kinds of animals and 3200 kinds of plants in the mountain. The main tourist attractions are Golden Peak, Wuan Nin Temple and Baoguo Temple.

Lying on the northwest of Hunan, Zhangjiajie is recognized as "a rarely charming belle in the boudoir" by the famous Chinese painter Wu Guanzhong. Zhangjiajie is the first National Forest Park in China featured by its unique hills, queer ridges and peaks, tranquil valleys, thrilling streams and abundant plant and animal resources. Today we are going to Huangshi (Yellow Stone) Village. It is the most important sightseeing spot in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. We shall visit the Baofeng Lake. It is the masterpiece made by the power of nature and human, which consists of Baofeng Lake, Baofeng Waterfall, One Line Gorge and Hawk Nest Village. With the development of tour in Zhangjiajie, Baofeng Lake became famous for beautiful scenery in the 1990's.

Full day tour to explore the mysteries of this sacred land, you will first visit the Sera monastery - "Sera" means "Hailstone" in Tibetan, and legend tells that it hailed during the foundation of this famous monastery. Sera was the last of the three principal Yellow Sect monasteries to be built in Lhasa. Unlike Drepung and Gandan, it was not built in a mountainside, but at the foot of the "Wudu Hill" to the North of Lhasa city. It was completed in 1419, under the supervision of Shaka Yeshe, an important teacher who travelled to Beijing and as far as Mongolia to preach Buddhism. Then we are moving on to the Potala Palace. The world famous Potala Palace is located on "Red Hill", to the west of old Lhasa. It was originally built in the 640's, during the reign of King Songtsan Gampo. The 13-story palace stands 384 feet high and has over 1000 rooms. It covers an area of 430,000 square feet. The entire building is made of stone and wood, with walls averaging 10 feet thick.

After breakfast we proceed to the Jokhang Temple situated in the center of old Lhasa. It was originally built in 647 A.D. It is said the site was chosen personally by the wife of King Songtsan Gampo, the Tang Princess Wen Cheng. It was built by craftsmen from Tibet, China and Nepal and thus features different architectural styles. The Jokhang is the spiritual center of Tibet and the holiest destination for all Tibetan Buddhist pilgrims. Next to the temple you will find The Barkhor Street. "Barkhor" means "a pilgrim's inner circuit", and is the earliest street of old Lhasa city. In the afternoon we shall proceed to Norbulingka. Norbulingka, or "Jewelled Garden", was the site of the Dalai Lamas' summer palace. From the mid 18th century, each successive Dalai Lama moved to the park during the summer season, and carried out all their religious and political affairs from there.
